Overview
Fast, Honest Boiler Repairs Across Greater Manchester
When your boiler stops working, you don't want a sales pitch — you want it fixed. DPS sends a qualified engineer with a fully stocked van, diagnostic equipment, and 13+ years of experience across every major boiler brand.
We diagnose the fault on arrival, explain it in plain English, and give you a fixed price before we touch a tool. If we can fix it that visit (and we can in most cases), we do. If a part needs ordering, we tell you exactly when it'll be back on.
We repair Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Ideal, Baxi, Viessmann, Glow-worm, Alpha, Potterton, Main, Ariston and more. Common faults — pressure loss, ignition failure, fault codes, frozen condensate, faulty diverter valves, knocking pumps — are all daily work for us.
If your boiler is genuinely beyond economical repair, we'll tell you honestly and explain your replacement options. No scaremongering, no commission-driven 'condemned' verdicts.
Why It Matters
Why a Quick Repair Always Beats a 'Wait and See'
Most boiler faults don't fix themselves. A small pressure leak becomes a flooded floor. A noisy pump becomes a seized motor. A flashing fault code today is a complete shutdown next week — usually on the coldest morning of the year.
Cheap fixes from unqualified handymen are illegal on a gas appliance and dangerous. Carbon monoxide poisoning kills around 60 people a year in the UK and hospitalises hundreds more. Always use a properly qualified engineer for any work on the gas side of your boiler.
Insurance call-out cover sounds appealing until you read the small print: long waits, parts excluded, labour caps, and engineers paid to upsell. A direct repair from a local engineer is almost always faster, cheaper and more honest.
DPS gives you a real diagnosis, a real price, and a real fix — backed by a written guarantee on parts and labour.

In Detail
Common Boiler Faults We Fix Every Week
Low pressure is the most common fault we see. The pressure gauge dropping below 1 bar usually means a leak somewhere on the heating circuit — often a slow weep on a radiator valve, a corroded auto-air vent, or a perished expansion vessel diaphragm. We trace the leak, repair it permanently, and re-pressurise the system. Re-pressurising without finding the leak is a temporary fix that always comes back.
Ignition failure (often shown as F1, E133, or a flashing flame symbol) can be a faulty ignition lead, fouled electrodes, a blocked condensate pipe, or a gas supply issue. We diagnose with a flue gas analyser and combustion meter — not by trial-and-error part replacement.
Frozen condensate pipes are a Manchester winter classic. The plastic waste pipe from the boiler freezes outside, the boiler locks out (usually F22 or E1), and you wake up to no heat. We thaw the blockage and, more importantly, re-route or insulate the condensate pipe so it doesn't happen again next winter.
Diverter valve faults cause hot water to come on when you ask for heating, or vice versa. Worcester combis (Greenstar 24/28/30) and Ideal Logics are particularly prone after 5–7 years. We carry replacement diverter cartridges as standard van stock.
Noisy boilers — kettling, banging, whistling — almost always mean limescale build-up in the heat exchanger or sludge in the system. A magnetic filter installation and inhibitor flush solves most cases. Severe limescale on a 10-year-old boiler may signal it's time for replacement, and we'll advise honestly.
Pump failures (heating works briefly then loses circulation, or top-floor radiators stay cold) usually mean a worn pump or a stuck check valve. Pump replacement is a 1–2 hour job we carry parts for.
PCB (printed circuit board) faults are diagnosed with a multimeter and manufacturer fault tree. PCBs cost £150–£350 — on older boilers we'll always discuss whether replacement is the wiser long-term decision before committing.
Carbon monoxide is the silent risk we never compromise on. If our flue gas analyser reads outside safe parameters, the boiler is isolated and you're given a written warning notice. Your safety always comes before convenience.
